My home is in need of sagging ceiling repair. What could have caused my drywall ceiling to sag?

While there may be many reasons you may need a sagging ceiling repair. Three of the most common causes of a drywall ceiling sagging are inadequate fasteners, improper fastening & water damage.

My plaster ceiling is sagging what could’ve caused this?

Outside of water damage & structural damage, fractured keys are one of the most common causes of plaster ceilings sagging. Plaster keys hold the plaster to the lathe and can become fractured by structural settlement and or movement in the structure caused by freeze & thaw cycles. Over time the weight of the plaster causes more keys to fracture leading to ceiling sag or possibly even ceiling collapse.

What should I do if my ceiling is sagging?

If your ceiling sagging is suspected to be caused by water damage we recommended that you immediately contact the appropriate tradesman so proper repairs can be made to the source of the moisture. Usually repairing the source requires a roofer or a plumber. If the ceiling repair is not a result of water damage, forego the first step & contact us immediately
